About the Royal Order
of White Buffalo

Steeped in fraternal tradition, guided by timeless values, and devoted to the future of Filipino youth.

The Royal Order of White Buffalo (ROWB) is the official youth movement of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB) in the Philippines. Born of one of the world's oldest fraternal traditions, ROWB carries forward a legacy of brotherhood, charity, and fellowship into the next generation.

Operating under the guidance of the RAOB Manila Provincial Grand Lodge, ROWB serves as a foundational fraternal organization designed specifically for young men. We provide structured pathways for personal growth, civic engagement, and the development of lasting bonds of brotherhood.

Our program is tailored for young men aged 15 to 18 years old — a pivotal time when character, values, and identity are being shaped. Through mentorship from senior RAOB members, participation in community service, and engagement in leadership activities, our members emerge as young men of conviction and purpose.

Members are encouraged to establish a strong foundation of charity and leadership and work toward attaining the rank of Kangaroo by age 21 — completing their journey as a ROWB member and preparing for full membership in the broader RAOB fraternity.

The White Buffalo is a powerful symbol in fraternal tradition — representing rarity, purity, and the sacred duty to lead. It is this spirit that animates every aspect of ROWB: the pursuit of excellence, the commitment to service, and the bonds of brotherhood that endure a lifetime.

A Brief History of ROWB

Co-Founder & Visionary

John Rupert Ibarra Corpuz

Provincial Grand Primo · RAOB Philippines

The architect of ROWB's vision — Provincial Grand Primo Rupert Corpuz conceived a path that would safeguard the future of Buffaloism in the Philippines by creating an appendant body dedicated to youth formation. His intention was not merely to recruit, but to cultivate character, fraternity, service, discipline, and belonging among the next generation.

Co-Founder & International Partner

Robert Mackay

Grand Primo · RAOB Grand Lodge of Victoria GLE

When Grand Primo Robert Mackay witnessed the potential of this vision, he saw not merely a Philippine initiative but a model with wider purpose. In Australia — where concerns over declining membership had also begun to echo — he recognised that ROWB could become a bridge between heritage and youth, allowing the traditions and ceremonial spirit of RAOB to be carried forward.

The Royal Order of White Buffalo (ROWB) was conceived in the Province of the Philippines through the vision and foresight of John Rupert Ibarra Corpuz, together with the support and brotherly partnership of Robert Mackay.

Born not from necessity alone, but from a deeper duty to preserve tradition for generations yet to come, ROWB emerged from a shared realization: that the enduring values of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes must continue beyond the present age and find new life in the hearts of the young.

ROWB opened its gates principally to youth aged 15 to 18 years old, with special provisions extended to the children of Buffs from 14 years old and from 19 to 20 years old under guided membership.

Yet the vision reached even further. Recognizing that the spirit of Brotherhood should extend to those most in need of guidance and care, the founders saw special purpose in welcoming children from orphanages across the Philippines — young people who, though separated from their own families, could discover fellowship, mentorship, and a sense of home within the White Buffalo.

Together, these two founders shaped a system not simply for today, but for tomorrow — a living pathway where the White Buffalo would stand as a symbol of guidance, renewal, and continuity.

The Founding Belief

"That the traditions entrusted to us shall not fade with time — but shall be carried forward by young hands, faithful hearts, and generations yet unseen."
